Durgo Cultural Associate (DCA) an Indian social development organization. We have welfare projects on education, healthcare, livelihood, and women’s empowerment.
DCA believes that foundation for a higher lifestyles lies in education. It is the maximum effective catalyst for social transformation. However, a child can't be knowledgeable in isolation. Only an empowered family, specifically the mother, could be inclined to train their children.
DCA also believes that knowledge & skill empower an individual to earn his/her livelihood and also increases his/her awareness on a range of issues viz. from healthcare, to appropriate social behaviour, to understanding his/her rights & duties – DCA seeks to educate, empower and cultivate better citizens.

Skill Development-Presently a priority
In our Country, presently, skill development is a priority area. Governments, both at State and National level, have recognized skill development as important tool to harvest demographic dividend.
DCA has so far ventured in the following divisions of skill development arena viz. skill identification, curriculum development, trainers/assessor training, delivery, assessment & Certification, institute-industry interaction, on the job training, placement, up-skilling, re-skilling, etc.
DCA has also partnered with local govt. (Municipalities/Panchyets), different departments of state govt. and various institutions of central govt. for implementation of different schemes including skill development.

Women Empowerment
Recognizing that skill & knowledge Empowers Women, DCA has undertaken various skill development programmes targeting women. Further DCA has identified lack of awareness is a major hindrance towards empowering women. Thus DCA has also undertaken several awareness camps in far flung rural areas of Hooghly district with the themes ‘against early marriage’, ‘girl child education’, ‘against domestic violence’ etc.
Social Welfare Activities
DCA undertakes several Social welfare activities with a philanthropic approach which includes:-
Distribution of relief materials to the marooned people. Relief materials such as food items, medicines, drinking water and allied items are distributed to the needy people during natural calamities. Recently after devastating trail of ‘Yash’ & ‘Amphan’ several people of South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal were badly affected. To extend help and support to the marooned and affected people food items, medicines, drinking water were distributed free of cost for 3 days.
Distribution of study materials to needy and meritorious student (IX-XII). To promote education and encourage meritorious students from under privileged strata of society, DCA undertakes distribution of study materials such as books, note books, implements, learning resources to target population. This is a regular activity of DCA. The list of beneficiary students are finalized in consultation with school authorities. Last such distribution camp was held on…
Distribution of cloths/ garments to street children. Another philanthropic activity of DCA includes distribution of cloths/ garments to street/platform children. This helps, to some extent, to minimize the hardship of such children during extreme weather conditions especially in winter. The materials for distribution is made available largely from the training centers of DCA and partly from the donations.
Organizing health & eye checkup camps. DCA recognizes that basic health is minimum requirement and vision is most important sense organ of a person. So it organizes health & eye checkup camps in rural/urban slum areas at regular intervals. Also DCA organizes health awareness camps to inculcate good hygiene among the rural/urban slum population. Organizing cultural programmes. To encourage cultural temperament and promoting local/folk art & culture DCA organizes several cultural activities/programmes at various locations witch include celebration of important national events/ceremonies viz. Independents Day, Republic Day, World Skill Day, Women’s Day etc. DCA also celebrates centenaries of renowned personalities e.g. Rabindra Jayanti, Najrul Jayanti, Ambedkar Jayanti, Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti etc.
Awareness Creation
Recognizing that one of the major hindrances towards development is lack of awareness, DCA regularly undertakes various camps and programmes for creation of awareness amongst rural/urban slum population to create consumer awareness, eradicate social evils, against superstitions, maintaining good physical and mental health, Covied-19 behaviour, practising good hygiene etc.
